This is a versatile toolpost dial indicator holder designed specifically for metal lathes. It seamlessly fits AXA quick change tool posts and is precisely sized to accommodate standard Mitutoyo dial indicators, as well as similar models. This ingenious device allows you to quickly attach an indicator to your QCTP, enabling precise adjustments of the 4-jaw chuck or accurate measurements of run-out in parts. Inspired by mrpete222's innovative project on YouTube, this design was thoroughly reworked in Fusion360 to perfectly fit full-size dial indicators. In contrast to the original Shars indicators used in the source project, the dimensions were adjusted for optimal compatibility. The mounting hole features a 45° chamfer, mirroring the configuration of an Ikea-style allen head machine screw. This thoughtful detail ensures that the hardware remains flush with the holder and avoids obstructing the tool post. To further enhance customization, the Fusion360 file is included, allowing you to easily modify the design according to your preferred indicator or mounting hardware specifications.
