Toolmaker's Vise
thingiverse
This toolmaker's style vise employs a compact screw angled into its base, which pulls the jaw both downward and forward. The screw head at the base-end fits snugly into a cylindrical cam that can be repositioned to one of several notches, giving it an overall range of 0 to 3.5 inches. The jaws measure 1.25 inches in depth by 2.5 inches in width. To complete the assembly, you'll need a 2.75-inch long hex head 1/4-20 bolt and nut, or a 75mm long M6 bolt and nut. Mounting holes in the base for either 10-32 or M5 socket cap screws have a 1.5 x 1.5 inch spacing. I've included a model for replaceable jaws, but the photos show aluminum jaws that I made (1.125 x 2.5 x 0.125 inches), which are more durable.
