Tool Holder for Metal Spudger Set

I keep a set of scraper and prying tools near my 3D printer to use in a variety of different ways. They are useful for everything from digging out support material on prints to prying apart bowden tube connectors on the printer.

To keep them organized, I designed this holder. The holder was specifically designed for the tools I have:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015K7KQ92/ref=oh\_aui\_search\_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The holes in the base/backer plate are designed to take a number 6 flat head screw. This allows the holder to be screwed to a surface. Alternatively, something like Command Strips could be used to mount it.

The bottom hooks are larger than the rest. This set is for holding the spudger with the curved heads. The curved heads means the tools cannot sit as close to the backer plate as the other tools.

I printed this in PLA with PVA support material.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Ultimaker

Printer:

Ultimaker 3 Extended

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2 mm

Infill:

35%

Notes:

I used a larger wall thickness than I normally do so that the support hooks would print mostly solid. This was done to get as much strength as possible out of them. I recommend something in the neighborhood of about 2.3 mm. The bases of the hooks (where they connect to the backer plate) will not be solid at this setting, but rest of the hook will be.

I increased the support footprint size to get a little more surface area for the support material attachment. I've had issues with support material with a small footprint getting knocked over. In Cura, this setting is called "Support Horizontal Attachment." Something around 1 mm should work.

How I Designed This

Fusion 360 Model

This was designed in Fusion 360.

Category: Tool Holders & Boxes
