Tool Grip

Tool Grip

grabcad

A triangular-shaped tool grip, designed for holding drill bits, broaches, countersinks, files, and workpieces, is available in two pieces. These clamp cylindrical shafts with diameters ranging from 1.8 to 2.5 mm and 3.2 mm to 3.5 mm. Made of plastic (injection molded), the grip can also be manufactured through CNC machining or 3D printing. Brass or alternative metallic materials are used for the metal parts. A wooden version is possible in a simplified design. An improved collet insertion and fastening feature, with a hexagonal profile on both parts, enhances safety against radial movement. A two-part version may reduce grip wall thickness. The STEP format (.stp) and native files (.prt and .asm) are available for PTC Creo Parametric 2.0 users in a zipped folder. Threads are modeled with theoretical values without clearance.
