The guide wheels of the printhead carriage are held in place by nylon struts. The lower strut rests on a rectangular hole, and it appears that the manufacturer was unaware that washers were necessary to secure the assembly properly. After two months of use, my printer's wheel was already showing signs of wear, so I added a washer and noticed that the nylon strut was causing the wheels to become loose. The carriage had developed significant play on its rail, which made it difficult to print accurately. To tighten the wheels requires some finesse: one hand is needed to pinch the rollers against the rail, another hand is required to operate the key awl, and a third hand is necessary to hold the 8-key in place while preventing the nut from turning. To alleviate this problem, I created a small tool that applies pressure to the wheels on the rail, which can be adjusted using an elastic band of varying firmness. Since the cr-10 head is identical to the Anet e10 head, this tool should also work for that printer model.
