Tool Drawer Trays
thingiverse
I thoroughly enjoyed ekramer3's original Tool Drawer Tray design. I printed four of them and created custom versions to suit my tool box organization requirements. To meet my needs, I made a few modifications to the trays: specifically, I needed a tray that was wider to accommodate +3/4" end mill bits (usually over 5") and deep reach bits. With some extra space in my tools drawers, I added longer trays as well to fill the gap. I reinforced the walls of my trays to make them more durable, allowing me to handle my tools with a bit more care. My custom trays line up perfectly with the original design and are exactly the same height. The 5" width tray has the exact same length as the original. While being thicker does make them slightly stronger, they do take longer to print. All of my designs were completed, printed, and installed in my box before ekramer3 and @rob.awesome.lockwood uploaded their bounding box driven parametric file version to the original Thing. If you have Fusion360, that updated file is incredibly slick and will allow you to personalize it according to your specific needs. Take a look and get ready for amazement. If you don't have Fusion, then my remix offers alternative options for organizing bits, tooling, pens, and other small items in the shop, garage, office, or house.
