St Andrew's Cathedral Museum boasts an exceptional collection of 17th-century grave slabs in Scotland. Dating back to 1655, this memorial to Christian Brydie was originally situated in the common burial ground east of St Andrew's Cathedral. The grave slab features her initials "C B", and reads: "Though in this tomb my bones are rotting away / yet read my name for Christ and Bryde I am 1655." and "Here lies a Christian, Christiane Brydie, spouse to James Carstairs, bailie of St Andrews, deceased in the year of our Lord 1655.
