Lara Croft is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Square Enix video game series Tomb Raider (formerly Eidos Interactive). She is portrayed as a beautiful, intelligent, and athletic British archaeologist who ventures into ancient tombs and perilous ruins worldwide in search of valuable artifacts. Conceived by a team at Core Design, which included Toby Gard, Lara first appeared in 1996's Tomb Raider game.
