Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia Porcareccia Necropolis Tomba della spirale d’oro per capelli (Tomb of the Gold Hair Spiral) End of 7th – early 6th century BCE Governmental excavations, 1933 Dimensions: diameter 7 m The Tomb of the Gold Hair Spiral is a ‘high tumulus’ chamber tomb, with rectangular plan and walls composed of rows of uneven sandstone slabs. The structure consists of an east-facing dromos (corridor) and a chamber sided by three funerary recesses paved around a central aisle. The grave goods belong altogether to the Gasparri collection, and consist of objects dating back to between the last quarter of the 7th to the first quarter of the 6th century BCE.
