Tomb Marker, St Andrews Cathedral
sketchfab
This small stone block from St Andrews Cathedral was originally used as a candle holder. Each corner features a hole for the candles, and a central dish where the wax would collect. The stone was later reused as a tomb marker. A pair of shears and a flat iron were carved onto its sides, symbols of a tailor's craft. A date of 1688 and initials IH have led to the stone being identified as belonging to James Husband, a skilled tailor based in St Andrews during the 17th Century.
