TOM Z-Axis Bearing Mod (ABP OK)

TOM Z-Axis Bearing Mod (ABP OK)

thingiverse

This design may be derived from Thingiverse's item number 8823 or its predecessor; however, this was created independently from scratch. The main purpose of this creation is to replace your existing stock Z-Axis bearings with smooth-sliding printed supports. Please read the instructions carefully before proceeding. To print the item, follow these steps: first, print the item (specifically designed for platform-free makerbotting); second, mirror the item and print again for the opposite side; third, use a razor to cut away the outer edges (be cautious during this process); fourth, depending on how the parts are printed, you may need to drill out Z-Axis holes to ensure smoother performance; fifth, attach the two new Z-Axis prints using three surrounding platform screws; sixth, tighten the screws evenly and simultaneously on both sides after aligning the Z rods; seventh, if the platform moves smoothly from top to bottom, your installation is successful. However, if it doesn't, redo the process. It is essential to use short (12mm) stopper-bolts for the top Z-Axis and make a small modification to the Y-Axis for clearance by adding a wooden piece to the back of the Y-axis platform where the endstop meets. This modification won't affect the build size. If you are using an Automated Build Platform, follow the instructions carefully and check clearances manually. An updated file (delta) is available to fix minor clearance issues with the Z-Axis endstop. Please discard the ABP as it negatively affects print quality.
