This text is a rework of the ToM Extruder Relay Fix by M_G, which itself is based on the original ToM Extruder Relay Fix by MakeALot. The revised version employs transistors instead of relays and may be beneficial for users without access to relays. It's a variant that functions in both forward and reverse directions for dying extruder motors. Requiring 4 NPN transistors, 2 resistors (100-1k ohm), and 4 1N400X series diodes, along with wires and a breadboard, this design offers an alternative to the original ToM Extruder Relay Fix. The author has not yet built it but thanks Eoin for sketching the circuit diagram and suggesting parts.
