I appreciated Mikeg's spindle design, but its height was too much for my TOM printer. To resolve this issue, I opened the STL file in Netfabb and reduced the spindle length by half. The final print turned out great, with smooth spool feeding. Assembling involves printing and gluing parts found in Thing:12871, while standoffs can be sourced from thing:12486 on Thingiverse.
