I stumbled upon some spare empty ABS spool cartridges for Dimension 3D Printers. The cartridges are a great find because they come equipped with rubber seals that keep moisture at bay. To work with these cartridges, follow these steps: The upper peg is a square measuring 14.7 x 14.8 mm. Meanwhile, the lower peg measures 20 mm x 20 mm in size, plus a thin perimeter lip that's 21 mm x 21mm wide. The .AD_PRT file is an Alibre Design file containing the work-in-progress (the most recent version used to create the version 5 stl). Alibre offers a lower-cost alternative to SolidWorks. Unfortunately, I'm not yet proficient in using OpenSCAD. Looking back at previous versions of the design: The holder tower's X-direction bridge was elevated above its Y-direction bridge to minimize droop. I hollowed out the design for holder tower 4 to use significantly less plastic, which helped reduce top-bridges that were sagging due to similar elevations of the X and Y direction bridges. For holder tower 3, the walls proved too thin to be useful. Holder tower 2 featured enlarged lower peg dimensions to fit snugly into the ToM holes. The original design for the first holder tower was a solid block with 15% infill. However, it used excessive plastic despite its low infill percentage; also, the lower peg was undersized and unable to fit against the ToM holes.
