ToM LED Lighting using xmas led lights

thingiverse

Repurpose broken LED Christmas tree lights for project LEDs, as they typically have 3.3-3.8V, 20mA bulbs. Create a simple LED lighting U-mount for six LEDs designed for the thing-o-matic printer; no bolts are needed, a built-in peg secures it to the z-platform. Begin by printing the mount and reaming out LED holes if necessary with a 3/16" drill bit. Insert LEDs into the mount holes, or secure them with glue if needed. Solder together LEDs, resistors, and wires; apply hot-glue and kapton tape for insulation and stability. For power, wire three LEDs in series with a 150 ohm resistor using a 12V connection. Connect two sets of three LEDs to 12V and ground, adding a switch for control. Finally, cover leads with hot-glue and kapton tape for protection.
