TOM-BOY with GEN4 Electronics
thingiverse
TOM-BOY, my custom-designed dual head 3D printer featuring Gen4 electronics from MBI, boasts a larger, accurate, and reliable structure. After rigorous design efforts, I have ensured that it adheres to standard DFM policies, utilizing common parts throughout. The printer is equipped with dual NEMA11 Non-Captive screw drives on each axis for precision movement and a travel distance of 400mm. With a print area of 270mm+ in all directions and slightly more in the z direction, TOM-BOY stands out. A custom-designed Hot End with a dual gear drive supports 1.75mm material. Other features include an inverted electronics bay for easy access, plastic screw locks to prevent acrylic cracking, complete enclosure with door access, feeders for filament spools, and a removable HBP attached by magnets for ease of access and leveling. All parts used for each axis are printable using the TOM-BOY itself. The printer includes a built-in Gen4 interface board and display. In search of affordable acrylic laser cutting services, I am seeking community recommendations. I have downloaded one Hot End part so far and plan to download all parts as I proceed with building the actual unit.
