Tom's model was captured using a Microsoft Kinect on a Linux system with libfreenect, then processed with open-source Kinect Fusion by Point Cloud Library (PCL). The Nvidia Tesla C2050 GPU, which supports CUDA, facilitated the KinFu implementation. Post-processing was done in Meshlab, as detailed in various tutorials on meshlab and solid modeling. Netfabb, an easy-to-use software for aligning and scaling, was employed next before the final STL was printed on a ShaperCube with ABS plastic. The resulting model stands approximately 10cm tall but will be updated once a taller, 175mm version is completed.
