Tolerances - Margin Checking
thingiverse
USE TWO SHELLS ONLY ON TOLERANCE BOARD - With 0.4mm nozzle or above it will be similar to 100% infill, but have slightly different results; print 100% infill later to compare results. Objects are designed to test the margins and tolerances of your 3D printer. By knowing the tolerances your printer creates, you can make adjustments in the model and get near-perfect results. Tolerance objects are small and quick to print, existing around the 5mm mark for checking (4.8 - 5.3 mm). Holes consist of Semi Circle, Square, Circle, and Hex (for allen keys) with consisting pins. Print the tolerance board to check the tolerance of holes; use vernier calipers to check the sizes of holes, real-time objects to see how they fit, and print the 'pins' which fit the holes to see which one fits. Choose a set of 'pins' with handles for easy manipulation: "Tolerances-All_4_8.stl" has pins of 4.8mm; "Tolerances-All_4_9.stl" has pins of 4.9mm, and so on up to "Tolerances-All_5_3.stl", which has pins of 5.3mm. Discover the tolerances between prints and real-world objects, as well as between two separate prints. This will allow for easy designing of functioning parts in the future.
