Token/Coin Dispenser and Storage Container

Ever go to the car wash or other place that requires use of tokens and get a few bucks of tokens and end up with extra to keep up with?

Enter the Token/Coin Storage and dispenser for keeping them with easy retrieval for your next visit.

These were designed to hold car wash tokens that are roughly 1.6mm thick and 25mm in diameter but works fine for the standard U.S. Quarter by sanding the slot slightly.
Please comment what else it works for.

The Short Dispenser body hold over 20 tokens and the long about 40.
Print three Spacers for the Long version and glue 2 of them back to back using the center hole to align. This creates the center Spacer.

Here is the only caveat. You will need a metal spring. I searched everywhere for an affordable and available spring and settled for this: https://www.acehardware.com/departments/hardware/specialty-hardware/springs/5214614
Free shipping to a local store.

There was a better spring available on Amazon but is no longer available. Feel free to comment on one that becomes available.

You can easily modify the spring slots in the cap and spacer to fit another spring but beware it needs to stay near the spring rate/load capacity.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

Any but thread overhangs print better with .1

Infill:

15% to support PETG internal top layer

Notes:

I print in PETG so it survives the heat of the car in the Florida sun. Still good as new after all summer.rnrnPrint Body and caps Threads up. No supports needed for he Cap or Spacer.rnrnEdit your support angle so supports are only under the coin slot, not the threads or text. I Use 5 degrees. (I do not use manual supports)

Post-Printing

It is best to have a set of small files to remove the supports and maintain the slot shape. Be patient, as the edges of the slot like to hold the supports in but have never had then not come out. A small screw driver helps to get them started and clean up with a tiny file until a coin falls through.rnrnSand the bore of of the body to smooth if necessary for smooth operation.rnrnUse the slot in the cap to tighten with a coin.

Category: Containers
