This is a highly customizable replacement toilet paper roll holder that can be easily printed at home. It's a one-piece print with the spring mechanism built right in as the outer casing. The recommended material for this design suggests using ABS, but I successfully printed it in both PLA and CPE without any issues with flexibility. If the result seems too stiff, try increasing the number of rings or decreasing the number of pillars. I lost my original holder from my apartment (don't ask how one loses something like that) and bought a replacement from my local hardware store down the block. However, the diameter of the pegs was too large to fit. I could have measured mine and looked on Amazon, but I decided over-engineering a solution to 3D-print was a better idea. You can control several variables to customize this design: * Roll width: the outer radius of the roll * Ring width: how wide each ring will be * Ring height: the thickness of each ring (1mm is a good value) * Actual roll length: this may vary depending on your holder, but 132mm is a good length for mine * Inner clearance: how much space between the inner beam and the exoskeleton (I used 2mm, but even tighter might work) * Rings: how many rings to create (10-20 is a good range) * Pillars: how many pillars per layer (3 or 4 is a pretty good number for a roll width around the same size as the toilet paper inner cardboard) * Cap height: how high to make each cap * Peg width: radius of the peg (for sure measure this, mine was 4mm) * Peg length: how high to make each peg (measure your own hole, mine was 3mm) * Pillar thickness: thickness of pillars (make this thicker for strength, I've always used 2mm) Print settings: * Printer brand: Ultimaker * Printer model: Ultimaker 2 * Rafts: yes * Supports: yes * Resolution: .15mm * Infill: 20% * Notes: concentric support pattern
