Toilet Paper Protector (from kittens)
thingiverse
We just welcomed four adorable kittens into our family and as expected, they love to play with everything in sight, including dismantling entire rolls of toilet paper. Just flipping the roll around wasn't enough to stop them so I came up with this solution. I didn't like how other versions were complicated or required a lot of assembly, so I decided to create one that was simple and easy to build. Ultimately, I made one that has two parts that need to be glued together but it was worth the effort. At first, I was worried that the kittens would still figure out how to destroy it from the top by standing on the toilet for access, but fortunately that hasn't happened yet. If the tail of the roll is hanging down they go after it, but it's easy to keep it tucked away when you're done. This design was specifically created to fit Trader Joe's standard-sized toilet paper rolls, which are 106mm wide and 110mm in diameter with a 45mm hole. I print the parts separately on my New Matter mod-t 3D printer and then glue them together using dichloromethane. Superglue would also work well for this purpose.
