Toilet paper holder extender + quick change
thingiverse
This device enables your toilet paper holder to accommodate larger rolls and also facilitates quick roll changes. Simply lift the roll from the bottom then rest it on the bars. When empty, lift it up for easy removal. I encountered subpar results with auto-generated supports, so I designed a version featuring integrated supports that worked effectively for me. You can utilize this version if you prefer or create your own supports. Either way, print two copies of that part along with two copies of the bar. To attach the bar, take a straight piece of 1.75mm filament. Heat up a metal piece (I heated a putty knife with my heat gun) and press it to one end of the filament until it widens and flattens to your liking. Put the other end through the holder and bar, then snip off the excess, leaving a couple of millimeters, and then flatten that end as well. Make sure to insert the bars in opposite directions or they won't function together. The curved shape serves as a spring to ensure it holds tightly to the existing holder. I used PLA, which is very stiff and held very tightly, but was difficult to put into place. More flexible filament might work better, but with the risk of not holding as tightly. If anyone uses a different material, please leave a comment to let us know how well it worked. Update: I created a [better version](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3565889) of this that utilizes flexible filament.
