Stuck inside with spare toilet paper? Take your family bowling with the help of your 3D printer!

A pin consists of a new toilet paper roll and a printed base. Insert the base into the cardboard tube, then twist to screw in until secure. When you need the toilet paper for its intended purpose, simply unscrew the base and run.

Print the base in spiral vase mode. This minimizes the amount of filament used. The tapered helical design adds strength to the thin shell.

Add color changes for a unique look. The pinstripe in the photo is approximately 7.5mm from the base and 5mm in height.

You can customize the parametric Fusion 360 file to suit your brand of TP and playing conditions. For example, adjusting the diameter of the base influences how tippy the pin is.

Print instructions

Use any available filament. Both PLA and PETG work well.

If using PrusaSlicer, start with "0.30mm DRAFT" settings. Click the "Print Settings" tab, then check "Spiral vase". Accept the recommended options.

Bases printed on a textured sheet are a bit less likely to slide than ones printed on a smooth sheet.
