Toilet In-Use Lighted Indicator
thingiverse
We have only two toilet stalls for men and women at work. A coworker suggested installing an airline-style lighted indicator that signals when a stall is in use. This innovative solution provides a clear visual cue. The male and female icons are derived from a 3D printing model available on the Thingiverse platform. To power this indicator, I'm using a standard 12-volt DC wall adapter and automotive-style LEDs for optimal brightness. A small micro push button integrated into the door is triggered when it closes. However, one design flaw persists – the tab on one side of the lid protrudes excessively, covering screw holes. Rather than redesigning or reprinting, I opted to simply break off the excess material to resolve this issue.
