Toggle Switch Presser for Lazy People (me)
prusaprinters

Lazy People arise

My Ender 3 S1 has a toggle switch way at the back of the printer, sure I could just reach all the way back there every time I needed to turn it on, but that requires energy. Also, I could rewire the switch, or use OctoPrint to control a relay. But no. I have a printer may as well use it (also my RPi is running of the same plug as the printer, so no power if printer is off).

For this to work I had to mount a screwdriver to the Ikea LACK table (homemade enclosure) using clothes pegs, then positioned the screwdriver inside the screw so to turn on the printer I can just twist the screwdriver.

DISCLAIMER: This is my first model, it is extremely janky, with lollipop sticks hot glued to power buttons, clothes pegs mounted to tables and screwdrivers glued to screws. It does work (to my surprise) so there's that.

Assembly?

I did not need two racks, I just used “Thin Rack” as I melted a hole through the rack then tied wire to it then looped to around the bottom of the stick, so when rack retracts, switch is pulled, then went extends, rack pushes end of lollipop stick that is glued to the power button.

Gear is secured just by brute forcing a machine screw through it as I couldn't get nuts to work for whatever reason. Only one rack is needed to be honest, but I made two so there you go. The “Shell” could probably be shortened down too, but this worked better for me.
