TMNT Turtlecycle Headlight
thingiverse
I acquired a vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtlecycle from the year 1989 that was almost completely stripped of its original components. The sidecar, handlebars, headlight, and accessories were all missing, leaving me with a very bare-bones bike. Since I managed to score this unique find for an extremely low price, I figured it would be a great opportunity to piece everything together myself over time. However, after extensively searching for the headlights, I was unable to locate them anywhere. So, in order to get my Turtlecycle back on the road, I decided to take matters into my own hands and designed a custom headlight that could be printed. While it differs from the original design, this new light perfectly matches the style of the bike. The fit is extremely snug, requiring no additional adhesives or bonding agents. You can print this custom part in orange, black, or green to ensure a seamless match with your Turtlecycle's color scheme. If you do decide to print one out, I'd love to see how it looks on your bike. On the main photo, you'll notice that the handlebars feature grips - these are actually the ones I use with my own bike. To create them, I used a design found on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:942724) by gettinnerdy and scaled it down to 22.5% in PLA. I've also noticed that due to the angled peg on the bike, the headlight is positioned at an upward angle. However, I'm still working on fine-tuning this aspect of the design and figuring out how to create a level cutout for the light. As someone relatively new to 3D image creation, I appreciate any feedback or suggestions you might have. Here are the print settings I used: Printer: XYZ da Vinci Jr. Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 20-30% Notes: To ensure proper fitment, I scaled the object down to 70% and flipped it so that the back of the light sat flush against the print bed. Dimensions: X-axis: 16.79 mm Y-axis: 16.79 mm Z-axis: 13.55 mm I designed this custom headlight in SketchUp 2016, running on Windows 10.
