Tlatelolco - Mexico City pt. 8
myminifactory
¡Bienvenidos a CDMX! As an homage to Mexico's vibrant capital city, MiniWorld 3D proudly presents the most comprehensive collection of its iconic landmarks and celebrated buildings! This ambitious project is massive, so we'll break it down into manageable parts, each featuring a selection of buildings united by a common theme. Part 8 brings you structures situated just north of the city center in Tlatelolco, an area steeped in history since pre-Hispanic times and now home to North America's second-largest apartment complex. The centerpiece of this collection is the awe-inspiring Square of the 3 Cultures. This name reflects the remarkable coexistence within mere meters of one another of ancient Mexica pyramids from Tlatelolco, a Spanish Church and convent, and modern apartment buildings from the 1960s. Tragically, this square was the site of a pivotal event in Mexico's history when, on October 2, 1968, a student demonstration was brutally suppressed by the government, resulting in countless fatalities, disappearances, or injuries. A poignant memorial slab commemorates this somber chapter. Torre Insignia is an iconic triangular skyscraper crafted by renowned Mexican architect Mario Pani, who was also the mastermind behind the "modern housing" project that transformed this location during the 1960s. Originally housing important offices, Torre Insignia stood abandoned since its closure in 1993. The trio of tall apartment towers, also designed by Pani, stands out for their unique height and distinctive penthouse design, catering to higher-income tenants. We've included units type C so you can print more of these structures and complete the blocks, just like they were originally intended (all from Wikipedia). MiniWorld 3D is thrilled to bring these models to life and spread joy among Mexico City's residents! MiniWorld 3D is a curated collection of 3D printable landmarks and models from around the world. Each model was meticulously crafted by hand and brain, so please give credit where it's due.
