I opted out of prying open my PCB casing - attempting it would've likely resulted in its destruction. Instead, I secured the smoother holders directly onto the X and Y axes, just below the stepper motor, using double-sided adhesive tape. Following JoaoHenriques' advice, I used a heated metal tool (such as the tip of a screwdriver) to crush the PLA pins after mounting the smoother, effectively securing it in place.
