Before becoming a Pilot, aspiring pilots must earn their Pilot Certification while undergoing rigorous Pilot Certification Training. Prospective pilots cannot become Pilots and operate or establish neural links with Titans until they earn their Pilot Certifications in the advanced simulator. The comprehensive training is divided into two critical parts: Pilot training and Titan training. The initial phase of Pilot Certification Training involves a series of highly realistic simulated exercises involving diverse scenarios. This segment of training is designed to evaluate a candidate's speed, endurance, and rapid reaction timing when faced with hazards or obstacles that ordinary soldiers cannot overcome without Pilot abilities or a Jump Kit. Additionally, the training assesses a candidate's combat skills, thoroughly examining their proficiency in various weapons and grenade handling while taking accuracy and ammunition conservation into account. Candidates who demonstrate exceptional skill and agility will be commended for their exceptional performance. Specifically, those who swiftly complete intricate free running courses without errors, perfectly execute grenade training sequences, and accomplish weapons training exercises without reloading their rifles will have these achievements highlighted in their final evaluation. Upon completion of the initial phase, candidates move on to the second segment of the training, which focuses on operating a Titan. Pilots-in-training learn how to call upon and board Titans, as well as master the operation of specific Titan weaponry and capabilities. In particular, they must become proficient in employing the Vortex Shield to absorb enemy projectiles and deflect them back towards their opponents. Furthermore, they must learn how to harness the power of both the Chaingun and Salvo Missiles, ultimately leading to the acquisition of advanced Core Abilities. To conclude this training phase, candidates are pitted against a substantial force of enemy Titans and infantry, with the objective of surviving for as long as possible. Due to the demanding nature of the final portion of the training, a significant majority of candidates receive their certifications despite failing this segment, as they have met all previous requirements. The purpose of the final training exercise is primarily educational, as one Titan facing a multitude of opponents usually results in the lone Titan's destruction and the pilot's death. Candidates who successfully navigate the challenging conclusion of the training without suffering damage are commended for their extraordinary survival against seemingly insurmountable odds, and many of these accomplished pilots go on to become some of the deadliest and most skilled operators on the Frontier.
