A conceptual design for a submersible autonomous vehicle (submarine) has been developed by the COMPASS/NASA GRC, JHU/APL, and ARL/PSU teams. This innovative vessel is designed to explore extraterrestrial seas, with a primary mission to send a submarine to Titan's largest northern sea, Kraken Mare. The craft will operate autonomously, conducting detailed scientific investigations beneath the surface of Kraken Mare. This endeavor aims to provide unprecedented knowledge of an extraterrestrial sea and expand NASA's capabilities in planetary exploration to include in situ nautical operations.
