• What does its name mean? It means King of Tyrannical Reptiles. • When and who discovered it? All specimens have been found in North America. Some teeth that are now documented as Tyrannosaurus rex were found in 1874 by A. Lakes near Golden (Colorado). • How big was it and what did it look like? It measured between 10 to 14 meters long and weighed between four and seven tons (its skull measured about 1.5 meters long). • How long ago did it live? It lived during the Late Cretaceous period, in an area of the Earth that now constitutes the western part of North America about 66 million years ago. • What did it eat? Under a purely carnivorous regime, its usual menu consisted of species such as Ceratopsians and Hadrosaurids. • A curious fact The Tyrannosaurus rex mouth was simple but complete and effective: it had over 60 teeth with different functions and shapes, placed in a row.
