Tipping Bucket
thingiverse
Revamped tipping mechanism, designed in OpenSCAD. This update features straight edges for reduced plastic use. To assemble, print the part, drill a hole for a rod (I used a hobby shop's aileron control rod), and attach a magnet on a convenient spot to trigger a reed switch. Secure a CD spindle with a drilled hole to hold your rod, add a funnel to the lid pointing at the bucket's center, then connect the reed switch to a microcontroller for rainfall calculation. Enjoy!
