tinySA/NanoVNA-H Case
thingiverse
This thing is a case for the tinySA Spectrum Analyzer, along with some accessories. It will also fit the NanoVNA-H product, which uses an identical form factor/housing, but the antenna holder won't apply for that application. If you are interested in a more "barebones" case that ONLY fits the tinySA (or NanoVNA-H), check out this Thing instead: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4925280 I have set this up to allow for storage of a couple of BNC-SMA adapters (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0814S5QPL?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=spiffspace-20&linkId=a7acfefb0f53d2f21055a1c89cc16243&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl), and a pair of 30dB SMA attenuators (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0814S5QPL?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=spiffspace-20&linkId=a7acfefb0f53d2f21055a1c89cc16243&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). It also is set up to allow for leaving SMA connector savers (installed on the inputs of the tinySA -- which I don't use, but was requested by other users). I can't guarantee that yours will fit, but if they look like these they should work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0814S5QPL?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=spiffspace-20&linkId=a7acfefb0f53d2f21055a1c89cc16243&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl There are three STL files provided here, one for the lower case, and two for the upper case. The variations between the upper case models is for a specific foam I used for my build. I used two pieces of 3.25mm foam for the top case, and a thin 1mm piece of rubber-like material in the bottom case. The "case_upper_foam" file is for this application. The "case_upper_nofoam" file substitues protrusions in the model that replace the foam pieces. The build for this "nofoam" assembly that omits the two foam pads in the top AND the 1mm thick rubber piece in the bottom case, and leaves 1mm more clearance. The fit for this one will be a bit more sloppy vertically, but should work fine. I have NOT built or printed this option, but I am confident it will work fine. You can probably source some thin material to take up any slop in the assembly - even the sheet of foam that is provided in the original tinySA packaging box could work (if you can extract it without it tearing). I can't promise that these will work, but these two items could work if you want to get foam that can work for the "foam" version: Upper Foam: https://www.amazon.com/Sheets-Adhesive-Neoprene-Insulation-Vibration/dp/B08P1XQMQH?dchild=1&keywords=Closed%2BCell%2BFoam%2BSheet&qid=1627667613&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=spiffspace-20&linkId=0ed46c65fcf61a045c64c531f23ea076&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl The above should be a 5-pack of 12" x 8" x 1/8" thick neoprene rubber closed cell foam - MAKE SURE it is the 1/8" thick option! Lower Pad: https://www.amazon.com/Sheets-Adhesive-Neoprene-Insulation-Vibration/dp/B08P1XQMQH?dchild=1&keywords=Closed%2BCell%2BFoam%2BSheet&qid=1627667613&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=spiffspace-20&linkId=0ed46c65fcf61a045c64c531f23ea076&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl The above is a pack of 10 pieces of roughly 8" x 10" 1mm sheets. Both of the above links are for WAY more material than you would need, but it is all I was able to find online that might be equivalent to the materials I had on hand. Hardware required: (2) M3 x 40mm long socket head cap screws (2) M3 nylon locknuts (4) M3 flat washers (approx 0.5mm thick) EDIT 07-26-21: Uploaded STP files for those who may want to make adjustments or customize things. STP files provided for the lower case, upper case (foam), and upper case (nofoam), plus STP assembly files for the foam and nofoam versions. These assemblies will include my reference models for the tinySA, antenna, attenuators, and the assembled SMA connector savers. EDIT 07-30-21: I have deleted the versions of the files that I initially updated, due to an error in the upper case. (The scallops on the feature in the upper case were not positioned correctly to align with the attentuator positions in the lower case). Additionally, I made a few adjustments to the lower case - mainly an adjustment to the clearance under the "bridge" feature that supports the attenuators. There should now be more room to possibly allow the SMA cables to rest on top of each other in that gap. Previously they had to nest side by side, since the opening under the bridge was 4mm high. It is now 5.8mm high. NEW MODELS have "073021a" in their filenames! Summary of edits: - Corrected both models ("foam" and "nofoam") for the upper case to fix the holddown feature for the attenuators. - Increased gap under the attenuator support bridge of the lower case to improve fit of the SMA cables - Updated the STP files of the assemblies to reflect the above changes EDIT: 08/05/21: Cleaned up some notes, and added links to some materials that SHOULD work for the upper and lower case "padding" for the "foam" version. I haven't used them, but they look to be similar in specs to what I used.
