Tiny Camera Housing for Ender 5
thingiverse
This is a tiny camera housing for the standard cheap Raspberry Pi Camera (25x24x9mm), meant to be placed on the inside of the front strut of the Creality Ender 5. I was looking for a more direct angle, looking at the nozzle, instead of just a moving carriage, so I made this. I started with making two single supports for this, in case I wanted to play with the position of the camera, and thus needing the mouting screws aside instead of behind the camera. The eyelets are off-center, so you can adjust the angle a bit more by rotating the support 180 degrees and thus adjusting the height. I also added a double support, needing only one T-nut. Every part has its separate STL, because I also wanted the LED visible, so I reprinted the front part in transparent PETG. You can eschew the front entirely if you want, but then you have to use four M2 nuts to fix the board into place. Hardware needed: Raspberry Pi Camera PCB (25x24x9mm) with a long enough flat cable to go where your RPi is 4 screws M2 x 8mm 2 nylon nuts M3 2 screws M3 x 6mm 1 or 2 screws M4 x 10mm 1 or 2 T-nuts M4 The back of the housing has room for two nylon nuts. I used nylon, since those nuts are always off by a fraction, and provide just enough grip on the metal screw that way to fix the camera in its position without having to tighten the screws too much. The housing basically sandwiches the camera module, and is held together with the four M2 screws, which tap themselves into the front half. If you're using PETG, you'll probably hear a squeaky noise. Mount the support onto the front strut in the position you desire, using the M4 T-nut(s) and screw(s). Put the assembled module between the support eylets, and use the M3 screws to mount the module. The difference in versions mostly have to do with the fact that I found a tiny design flaw in an earlier version. I never really meant for this thing to be published, so some design choices may be a bit odd, but they worked for me to reach my goal. Anyway, replicate at your own risk.
