Tinkerloon Plytop Shell
thingiverse
The Plytop Shell is a laser-cut, hand-assembled SBC shell that lets you build a human-sized laptop using cheap mass-market components and a Raspberry Pi 3 or similar single-board computers. This project was inspired by a 3D-printed idea I had two years ago, which can still be found on Thingiverse. The plywood construction of the Plytop Shell allows users to attach any component they want to the monitor top with ease. The bottom is cut in such a way that components can be secured using re-usable zip ties. The keyboard and trackpad are custom-fit for added precision. For more information, including a comprehensive list of required components and assembly instructions, visit my homepage at tinkerloon.com/projects/plytop. There are two distinct top files available: One is designed specifically for use with the Waveshare 10.1 (B) LCD screen, aligning bolt holes accordingly. The other file has no pre-made bolt holes or cutouts, giving users the flexibility to design their own or drill them after assembly. The Plytop Shell is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike. This allows users to modify and distribute derivatives as long as they maintain an open design and credit Tinkerloon LLC with all copies and derivatives.
