Tinkeriffic BB Bearing 58mm Spool Spindle
myminifactory
Crikey! It's another Tinkeriffic bearing spool spindle, mate! My Faire Play Kickstarter just reached 120% funding and now I'm printing backer rewards like a pro. I've got my hands on a fresh roll of gold filament and it doesn't fit any of the bearings I've made so far - not because I'm lazy, but because Hera's clearly put a curse on me for only creating an Athena Makeover Kit. I'm doomed! A smarter bloke would whip out some CAD magic in Thingiverse's customizer and parametrically adjust those bearings as needed. But Lao Zheng ain't got time to learn no fancy stuff - I've been too busy tinkering, mate! So, I bashed this spool spindle together in Maya in under eight seconds flat. Enjoy! This nifty design is made for a 58 mm spool, just like the one from BuMat that's been sitting on my workbench. It's a three-part solution (counting those tiny 4.5mm BB's) and it uses a Tinkertoy rod as the axle - it's way smoother than the original stuff. I know some folks found inserting BB's into the 608 bearing to be a real pain, so I split the bearing in two and left it up to you lot to super glue the parts together when you're done. The inner spool walls are pretty thin, so make sure to print multiple shells or use high infill for that part - trust me, you don't want it falling apart on you!
