Tin Man Costume Accessories - The Wizard Of Oz
thingiverse
My three-year-old daughter picked out our entire family's Halloween costumes from her favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz. Everyone else grabbed easy-to-find costumes online, but I got stuck with the Tin Man - a character that left me frustrated due to a lackluster selection of costume options available. So, I decided to create one from scratch using simple materials like cardboard, paint, hot glue, paper fasteners, old clothes, and a ski mask. What really made this project stand out was being able to design accessory pieces in Fusion 360 and print them on my CR-10 printer. Even though the costume itself was made of cardboard, creating and printing rivets to line the seams and cover the paper fasteners brought the character to life. People actually asked me how I managed to bend metal for this costume - it was a great feeling to be able to showcase my skills. I was proud to share my first true-to-movie Tin Man heart on Thingiverse, as well as a custom nose piece that used Spirit Gum and face makeup for a realistic finish. I even designed a close replica of the movie prop funnel in Fusion, which fit perfectly over my head - no need for a separate purchase. This was an incredibly fun project that I completed in just seven nights (mostly spent painting). Seeing the look on my little Dorothy's face when she saw us all in costume was truly priceless.
