Tilt printer

Tilt printer

thingiverse

A 3D printer with self-printing capabilities is hoped for, with potential for long prints by canting the Y axis at 45 degrees (requiring STL rotation in skeinforge). The objective is a bot that can print larger than itself. As of Sept 25, 2011, the final dimensions are 420mm x 210mm x 198mm with a print size of 50mm high and 215mm wide. First stage involves getting Mk5 back in operation, while pictures of previous models (Mk1) are attached. Update issues include belt sizing problems, belt replacement requirements, tension system failures, and leveling adjustments. A racer support system for long prints is missing in the design. Additional tool heads may be integrated with the stepper not being part of the tool head.
