I stumbled upon geodesign's grid and canals design for Takenoko on Thingiverse and immediately fell in love with the models. Maybe it's because just yesterday we accidentally knocked over our meticulously crafted tile layout, leaving us scrambling to pick up the pieces. However, I was craving something different - single tile holders, not triplets. And geodesign had chosen a No Derivatives CC license, which meant I couldn't simply remix their design without permission. So, it was off to Fusion 360 for me, where I created my own versions of the tile holders and irrigation channels. One notable feature is that these tile holders can be stacked on top of each other, saving precious space by rotating them slightly against each other. This clever design allows them to fit seamlessly into my custom organizer for Takenoko, which I designed specifically for this purpose. As an aside, I initially experimented with a design that utilized small diametrically magnetized magnets to keep the tiles securely in place. While it's undoubtedly more visually appealing, I ultimately decided against it, feeling that spending around $30 on magnets for a game I enjoy but don't frequently play was excessive.
