Tiko Spool Holder
cults3d
I'm designing a filament spool holder for the Tiko that fits perfectly into its spool holder cavity. It works with standard spool sizes and comes in two versions: an 84mm smaller version, which is pictured here, and a larger one suitable for wider spools. The smaller version was designed to be compact enough to print on a Tiko but still accommodate the spool that comes with it. I've included a list of spool dimensions for reference - you can also modify this design on Onshape. Most spool holders in this style work well until the spool is almost empty, when the filament's pull can knock it off the bearings. This usually isn't an issue since the spool is light enough at that point, but it's worth keeping in mind if you use this holder. Parts: Assembly requires M5 screws, M5 washers, bearings, and ball-end hex wrenches. You can choose different bearing sizes to match your filament spools. Use the washers to prevent bearings from binding on other parts. I used 30mm socket cap M5 screws and washers in my configuration. You'll need: * 5x16x5mm bearings (available on Amazon or Banggood) * 5x14x5mm bearings (available on Amazon or Banggood) * Ball-end hex wrenches - these make it easier to screw in the screws at an angle * Glue dots (optional) - I use a few of these to keep the spool holder in place Miscellaneous: The Tiko spool and an Atomic Filament spool are featured in the pictures. I've found that 16mm bearings on the outside paired with 14mm bearings inside work well for most of my regularly used spools, but further testing is needed. Use small washers between the plastic and bearings to prevent binding. There are also some large printable washers available to help align smaller spools, although I haven't needed them yet. When spools are running low, they may not have enough weight to stay on the bearings. This design is a work in progress and hasn't been thoroughly tested; it may change over time.
