Tiki Tap Handle (Hex Nut Base)

Tiki Tap Handle (Hex Nut Base)

This remix of Shakespeare's tiki tap handle is specifically designed for "printing-in" a 3/8-16 hex nut instead of threading in an insert post-print. The nut used must have a wall-to-wall width of less than 15mm and a thickness of 6mm or less; I used Everbilt hex nuts from Home Depot. To accomplish this, you need to alter your G-code or instruct your slicer to pause the print right before the layer that bridges the hexagonal pocket shown in the photos. When the print pauses, press the hex nut into the pocket and verify that the top face of the hex nut is below or flush with the surrounding walls before resuming the print; if not, you risk the print nozzle colliding with the hex nut.
