Tiger Electronics R-Zone

Here is a video showing exactly how this model was created: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V66eZDVhqM&feature=youtu.be The R-Zone is an obscure yet fascinating game system from Tiger Electronics that attempts to provide a Virtual Reality-like experience, much like Nintendo's ill-fated Virtual Boy. However, the R-Zone takes a different approach by using a single-eye view and transparent reflector, making it more akin to Augmented Reality. Despite being somewhat ahead of its time, the R-Zone and Virtual Boy both suffered from a lack of engaging content, resulting in their failure in the market. The Virtual Boy, with its red monochrome display and dual-eye setup, had potential but was never fully realized. In contrast, the R-Zone used swappable LCD cartridges, which doomed it to failure. Playing a handheld Tiger game while wearing an R-Zone headset is a daunting prospect. I once built a similar headset using an OLED screen, Arduino Nano, and clear acrylic cube, giving me some insight into what it might be like to wear one. Unfortunately, the term "Augmented Reality" was not widely recognized back then, apart from Steve Mann's pioneering work in the field.
