TIG - Tungsten Storage Tube
prusaprinters

I am taking a TIG Welding class at my local community college, and one of the many consumable supplies we use are Tungsten Electrodes.

These come in a variety of configurations, and usually sold in sets of 3, 5, or 10 ... all in 7" lengths.

Now our instructor uses some 1/2" copper tubing to store his electrodes, he doesn't have a 3d printer yet !!! (I'm trying to convince him to get one.)

Anyway, I designed a tube - threaded at both ends, with both smooth & rigged caps, each easily holds 10 electrodes.

Although I haven't done it yet ... I will print specific color caps for each tube to match the electrodes inside each.

I am including both "Tube" versions that I made. One has a longer threaded area, that extends beyond the caps. The other has a much shorted threaded area which the caps completely cover. Both versions are the same length.

As noted in the drawing, the tube is 180mm tall, so you'll need a build height of at least 8".
Category: 3D Printing
