A steel pin is securely affixed to a turn by hard soldering, which is then firmly attached to the final two outer layers via hard soldering. To achieve an attractive finish, a thin layer of gold is galvanically deposited through a complete process. This unique tie pin exists and was once gifted to me by my model shop colleagues many years ago; perhaps it could serve as inspiration for goldsmiths and others alike.
