Tie Pilot Chestbox Donut Helper
thingiverse
This is meant to help you trim the "donut" caps for your Tie Pilot chest box. There are two essential pieces: the "holder" and the "Ring/Riser". To protect my parts from scratching, I used painter's tape on the outside. Simply place your chestbox cap (Donut) into the holder, then use a utility knife to cut around the top. Once it is deeply scored, you can pop off the excess. To cut the hole in the cap, drop the ring into the holder after inserting the cap and run your knife repeatedly around it. This will take several passes, but I found it easier than freehanding it. For caps with gear greeblies, I wanted something a bit shorter in depth. So, I dropped the Riser Ring into the holder before adding the cap and cut around the outside as before with a utility knife. This is a rough model, but it served my needs. I was using this with a Walt's Trooper Factory Tie Pilot kit. Feel free to remix it if you like of course. I also made it a habit of wearing cut-resistant gloves so I didn't slice myself if I missed. The flat edges on the holder made it easier for me to have it on its side, so I was always cutting down.
