This detailed model accurately represents the Ticonderoga Class Cruiser, famously known as the Aegis cruiser due to its groundbreaking weapons control system. Initially designed as a modified Spruance Class, the US Navy reclassified it as a Guided Missile Cruiser upon integration of the Aegis System. Constructed from the 1970s to the early 1990s, 28 vessels were built in total. The second variation boasted upgraded electronics and a revamped superstructure for CG49-CG58 cruisers. Subsequent variations (CG59-CG73) featured enhanced missile launch systems with VLS Vertical Launch Systems, now integral to the Navy surface fleet's striking arm.
