This model accurately represents the Ticonderoga Class Cruiser, also known as Aegis cruisers due to their advanced weapons control system. Initially based on a modified Spruance Class, it was later reclassified as a Guided Missile Cruiser when the Aegis System was integrated. Constructed from the 1970s to early 1990s, there were 28 vessels built in total. Variations included upgrades to electronics and superstructure (CG49-CG58), as well as enhanced missile launch systems with VLS Vertical Launch systems (CG59-CG73). These ships are integral to the Navy's surface fleet striking arm.
