Medical Disclaimer - Use this tick removal tool at your own risk, provided "as is" without any implied claims. Removing ticks can be a daunting task, requiring precision and care to avoid causing harm. Using tweezers or pincers increases the likelihood of tearing the tick, leaving behind a portion of it in your body or pet's skin, which can lead to infection. Ignoring medical advice may tempt you to use oil, glue, or suffocating substances to remove ticks, but this approach is fraught with danger. The dying tick may expel its gastric contents into the bite wound, increasing the risk of infection. The most effective and elegant method for removing a tick involves using a split hook. Grasp the tick firmly between the skin and its head with a gentle shoving motion. A delicate twist of the hook will generate sufficient torque to release the tick from your skin, leaving it intact and alive. You may find satisfaction in carefully extracting the tick from your skin, following this method. Here is my design for a tickhook/ticktwister, created from scratch using TinkerCAD to meet my requirements. - The device must be pocket-sized. - Rounded edges ensure comfort and safety. - The opening/slit must accommodate both juvenile and adult ticks. This design is considered a work in progress. As I make improvements, the updated version will be uploaded. First upload: May 3rd 2018 - Version 0.43 (previous uploads were pre-prototyping).
