Tic' Twist
thingiverse
I crafted this as part of a project focused on unlocking the potential of tics and attaching practical functions to habitual movements that people instinctively perform without even realizing it. The most widespread tic I discovered was finger tapping, which people often exhibit when working or feeling anxious. My primary objective was to devise a way to link a function to this automatic behavior. To achieve this, I designed the Tic' Pedal as a clever contraption that alerts you to your tapping habit by producing a distinct tapping sound with both your fingers and the drum. The Tic' Register records finger tapping movements as small impressions on the surface being tapped, thereby discouraging repetitive behavior. The Tic' Twist also incorporates features that make it challenging to play with your hair. This design can be easily downloaded and repurposed as a drum pedal simply by attaching rubber bands; its versatility is evident in its multiple uses.
