Laurent Delvaux was a skilled Flemish sculptor born in Ghent in 1696. His illustrious career spanned continents, taking him from the streets of London to the grandeur of Rome. Eventually, he returned to his homeland in the Austrian Netherlands where he held a prestigious position as a court sculptor. Delvaux played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the Baroque and Neo-classicism movements. Delvaux crafted an impressive series of twelve life-sized busts of Roman emperors in the Warandepark in Brussels, which have remained on permanent display since 1782. The statues are strategically placed around a stunning fountain, carved from gleaming white marble, with each figure posed proudly in jasper-coloured marble attire. Though their faces bear the scars of time and weathering, it is believed that one of these magnificent sculptures represented the legendary Tiberius. This remarkable artifact is part of "Scan The World," a groundbreaking non-profit project spearheaded by MyMiniFactory.
